BEAUTY

Imagine my joy when seeing the diverse range of women who currently hold and previously held the cover girl crown...at the same time I also thought about the label "plus size/fuller figure" is it just another way of dividing and labelling ourselves as women or a fitting and descriptive for the fashion industry..?

...Currently running till November, held in LA, the Beauty Culture exhibition seeks to re assess our own definition of what is beautiful... looking at colour, size and trends, featuring some of the most diverse and celebrated women in fashion

The exhibition takes place at the Annenberg Space for Photography and illustrates the impact images can and do have towards our perceptions of style beauty and femininity.

"As much as beauty can astonish and inspire, it can also corrupt and subvert, rendering all else - and even itself - broken and obsolete," says Wallis Annenberg, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of the Annenberg Foundation. "The great contemporary photographers do so much more than chronicle and celebrate what is beautiful in our time. They dig beneath it, they confront our compulsion with it, and they turn art's mirror on ourselves as well. I can't think of a more important conversation for the Annenberg Space to have."
